Abstract: | India started improving its socio-economic conditions especially since it adopted its new economic policy in 1991.The growth of the economy was not so much encouraging during the first three decades of planning. The momentum was noticed in an accelerated pace during 1992-96 when the growth rate of the Indian economy was very high( 6.7 percent). Then it slowed down and again recovered and it reached a climax in 2003-2004 when we observed a huge growth rate of 8.2 percent. In this paper we have highlighted some of the performances of the Indian economy in some areas such as agriculture, industry and the service sectors. In this contex,t we have elaborated the concept of knowledge economy with reference to its global competitiveness. We have sorted out the relation between education and human resource development in Indian context. |
