Title: POST-COVID CHALLENGES FOR BUSINESS AND ECONOMY: A STUDY FROM BANGLADESH PERSPECTIVES
Authors: Bhattacharjee, Milan Kumar
Abstract: The occurrence of the unprecedented pandemic caused havoc across the
globe and affected national and global economies. The present study
assesses how Covid-19 affected the economy of Bangladesh and looks at
the effect on two sectors specially which include readymade garments and
travel and tourism. The study notes that these two sectors have been
impacted very severely. The key challenges that the garments arena faces
in the post-covid period include low productivity, improper infrastructure,
low investment in research and development and diseconomies of scale.
The others include order cancellation and material crisis along with the
chance of making defaults in payment. In a similar tune, for the travel and
tourism sector, the revival will take time looking into the extent of downfall
and the unforeseen circumstances in which the sector had to go through
because of restrictions during the Covid. A lot of innovations in offerings
are expected from the stakeholders in the sector so that the industry revival
can take place fast. Data shows that the sectors are showing immense
improvement and it is expected that things will get boosted further

Title: SOCIO-ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTION OF DIGITAL RETAIL BANKING- AN EMPIRICAL STUDY IN WEST BENGAL
Authors: Dey, Biswajit; Das, J. K.
Abstract: Banking as a part of society always provides a positive contribution to the
economic development. Digital retail banking in India has immensely
contributed to overall socio-economic development. The present study
imparts a primary data based empirical analysis from 170 respondents in
West Bengal on this issue and used five constructs such as Easy Access to
Money (EAM); High Quality of Life (HQL); Poverty Reduction (PR);
Facilitating Emerging Digital Economy (FEDE); Covid-19 Protective
Security (C-19PS) to judge the socio-economic contribution of digital retail
banking in West Bengal. The study has found after applying descriptive
statistics and Pearson’s correlation test that all five constructs are internally
consistent and digital retail banking has very high impact on all the five
socio-economic constructs. Digital retail banking has also highly impacted
all 17 attributes or statements under these five constructs

Title: THE INTERLINKAGE BETWEEN VALUE ADDED INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL AND CORPORATE PROFITABILITY: A STUDY ON INDIAN PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES
Authors: Ghosh, Chaitali; Khan, Tagar Lal
Abstract: Intellectual capital (IC) is considered an essential means for increasing
the worth of businesses and giving them a competitive edge in the
industrialized world. Therefore, stakeholders must comprehend how it
affects the profitability of companies. The present study analyses the effects
of intellectual capital on Indian pharmaceutical businesses’ profitability.
The study examines the inter-relationship among the different aspects of
intellectual capital, viz., human capital, structural capital, and physical
capital, and their overall relation with the different profitability paraments
like Operating profit (Profit before depreciation, interest, tax, and
amortization), Net profit margin (NPM), Return on net worth (RONW),
Return on capital employed (ROCE). For probing the impact of intellectual
capital on the firm profitability of pharmaceutical companies’ Descriptive
statistics, Correlation analysis, Panel Regression analysis, and Principal
Component Analysis have been applied. Appropriate hypothesis tests like
Hausman’s specification test, paired t-test, KMO test, Bartlett’s test, etc.,
have been carried out as appropriate. The results indicate a significant
positive relationship between intellectual capital and firms’ profitability.
Also, it is found that human capital, relational capital, and physical capital
have a significant role in increasing the firms’ profitability

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT THROUGH PRADHAN MANTRI MUDRA YOJANA: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS

Title: ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT THROUGH PRADHAN MANTRI MUDRA YOJANA: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS
Authors: Minz, Wilson Peter; Bhowmik, Goutam; Kushari, Shubhadip
Abstract: MSME is the biggest pillars of the Indian economy as it helps in boosting
employment generation. However, the most significant impediment to these
industries is lack of financial access from the mainline financial institutions.
In order to remove the impediment, the Government of India established
the Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency Ltd. (MUDRA) in 2015
to provide refinance facility to the lender for loans granted to microentrepreneurs in India.
This paper aims to highlight the overall performance of MUDRA in terms of
total number of accounts opened, amount sanctioned and disbursed to the
less privileged entrepreneur groups ((Women, New Entrepreneur, Minority
and Others) since inception. The study is based on secondary data collected
from the annual reports of MUDRA database. Annual growth and CAGR
were calculated using the total number of accounts opened and amount
disbursed. One-way Anova along with Game-Howell post-hoc analysis have
been used to determine whether there exists any significant difference with
respect to loan disbursed among the less privileged entrepreneur groups.
The study reveals that the Mudra loans witnessed substantial progress
during the period under review. The study will assist in understanding how
Mudra aids in the empowerment of the less privileged entrepreneurs.
