Authors: Dhara, Prakash C; Mahata, Hiranmoy; Maity, Payel; Banerjee, Monalisha; Chatterjee, Mousumi; Pal, Amitava
Abstract: Female workers in India actively participate in different agricultural jobs. Work related
Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are common among them. The main aim of the present investigation
was to evaluate the prevalence of MSD in relation to their age, socioeconomic and nutritional status. For
the study 82 female workers engaged in paddy threshing were selected at random from the different
villages of different districts in West Bengal state. Socioeconomic Status (SES) was evaluated by modified
Kuppuswami Scale. The MSDs of the female threshers were evaluated by the modified Nordic questionnaire
method. The Perceived Discomfort Rating (PDR) was assessed during work by a 10-point subjective scale.
The nutritional status of the workers was determined by cut-off values of Body Mass Index (BMI) prescribed
by WHO. The results revealed that the subjects of upper-lower socioeconomic class had higher prevalence
of MSDs than that of the lower-middle class. The MSD was the most prevalent in thigh, knee, shoulder and
lower back of the female workers and high values of PDR was noted in those segments. It was noted that
the occurrence of MSDs was significantly different (P&lt;0.01) in most of the body segments in under- and
over-nourished females than that of normal weight counterparts. The higher rate of MSDs and discomfort
in different segments of the workers was observed in younger age group (20-35 years.) which might be due
to lesser experience and skill in young age than that of the middle age group (36-45 years.). It was
concluded that the socioeconomic status, BMI and age of the female threshing workers might be influencing
factors for the occurrence of MSDs.</summary>

Abstract: Present study was conducted on the married rural women of Paschim Medinipur District
with the age group of 18 to 45 years old who were suffering from leucorrhoea. Impact of modification of life
style such as sanitation, cleanliness in pre and post coital time etc. and drinking of decoction of teafenugreek
seed and ladies finger twice a day for fifteen days separately was noticed. It was observed that
there was an improvement in their leucorrhoeal episode following the above modification. The group
supplied with ladies finger had shown a greater percentage of improvement with respect to other groups.</summary>

Authors: Kamilya, P; Das, Ajoy; Das, Ayan
Abstract: Seedlings of sixty weed taxa of Magnoliopsida belonging to twenty four families have been
investigated from different road-sides in Balurghat Town, Dakshindinajpur. Qualitative traits of the seedlings
have been emphasized for the construction of artificial key for their proper identification in the field. Interdependence
of qualitative traits used in the key has been evaluated through Principal Component Analysis
(PCA) following Varimax method. Conservation of some of these species through seedlings has been
emphasized considering their multifarious importance.</summary>

<summary type="text">Title: MORPHO - ANATOMICAL STUDIES OF CYPSELAS IN THE TRIBE SENECIONEAE(ASTERACEAE)
Authors: Mukherjee, Sobhan Kr; Bar, Radharaman
Abstract: Senecioneae is one of the unique tribes recognized by Cassini among the 43 tribes of
Asteraceae. Present study is based on the morpho-anatomical characters of cypsela among one species
each ofBarkleyanthus [Barkleyanthussalicifolius (Kunth) H. Robinson &amp; Brettell], Packera
[Packeradimorphophylla (Greene) W. A. Weber &amp; Á. Löve] and Senecio (Senecioelegans L.)under the tribe
Senecioneae. Morphological characters like apical part of the cypsela, surface hairs, structure of
carpopodium, pappus bristles type and anatomical features such as pericarpic tissue arrangement, testal
layers and endosperm are taxonomically significant. The studied characters has important role in isolation
of taxa at species level. An artificial key is provided on the basis of macromorpho-anatomical features of
cypselas for identification of the studied species. The objective of the present study is to analyse the
detailed morpho-anatomical structures of the cypselas and also to show the relationships among them.</summary>
